The Environmental Division develops several activities in this laboratory, such as the chemical and isotopic characterization of gases and ground water and the determination of other environmental parameters.
It´s provided with a wide variety of instrumentation: spectrophotometer of atomic absorption (AES), induced-coupled plasma atomic emission spectrophotometer (ICP-AES), gas chromatography (GC), gas micro-chromatography (GC), mass chromatography (GC/MS), quadruple mass spectrometry (QMS), ionic chromatography (IC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), alpha spectrometer, UVA spectrophotometer, NDIR spectrophotometer, etc.
The Department has a laboratory for the design and development of prototypes and electronic systems.
Equipment for the assembly of prototypes in both insertion and SMT (paste dispensator, Pick and Place, firing process oven).
As the main activity is related to the development of investors, several types of high-powered components (IGBT modules, elements reagents, etc.) and power equipment analyzers that allow diagnostic quality network and determine parameters of interest teams (yields, signal quality ...) are available.
A laboratory for high-powered device testing is currently being planned. This laboratory is thought to include photovoltaic simulators and network as well as specific instrumentation. It is intended to test and evaluate high-powered investors.
It measures environmental pollution in several points of the island periodically, such as urban and industrial areas.
It´s equipped with a meteorological station, and continuous sensors of ozone (O3), sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
