Abstract

ITER, IES and BP have developed this project to install the biggest PV concentration plant of the world, based on the cylindrical-parabolic mirror tecnology of the EUCLIDES prototype. This technology is based on idea of light concentration over a limited area of solar cells, with the aim of reducing "Pv generation plants" costs.

Optical Concentration is based on cylindrical-parabollic mirrors with one axis sun-tracking. The plant consists of 14 lines of 84 meters long each one, and has a nominal power of kWp. Each line consist of 138 modules arranged in series and 140 parabollic mirrors.

In the worst conditions, it can generate a minimum voltage of 700V so that it is able to work with a 3 phase inverter without a transformer. The EUCLIDES plant has 7 inverters of 68 kW each one. The inverters are connected to a field bus that allows controlling and monitoring the whole plant.

Generated energy is injected directly into UNELCO grid.
