Difusión of the results obtained in the High Speed Expansion in the Cnary Islands (PEBA)

The Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministery (MITYC) has granted, through the Plan Avanza Dinamización, a subvention to the Canary Foundation ITER for the carrying out of the diffusion activities of the results of the High Speed Connection Extension Plan n the Canary Islands (in Spanish (PEBA)).
The PEBA´s goal is to achieve the expansion of the action range of the services that give access to High Speed Internet in rural areas of the Canary Islands. Nowadays, there is a big infrastructure display done by the operating telecommunication companies, now being necessary the diffusion part, in which these activities and internet possibilities reach the population in these rural areas.
The PEBECAN project is in charge of this diffusion part that has been approved by the MITYC, in the selection stage of projects presented to the 2007 call of the Plan Avanza Dinamizacion. The project will be coordinated by the Canary Foundation ITER and will count with the participation of the Empresa-Universidad de La Laguna Foundation, University of Las Palmas Foundation and the E-Comunica association in Santa Cruz of Tenerife.
The project will last through the year 2008. The project´s activities will have regional characteristics; it will take place in collaboration with the people in charge of the PEBA, both with the Canarian Government, one of the promoting entities, as well as with the operating companies that have displayed the infrastructures and will be, in last term, the ones to provide the Internet access services to the users of the rural areas.
