The Bioclimatic Department at ITER was created with the goal of investigating and developing architectural techniques that will allow the design and construction of buildings according to the climate, geomorphology of the territory, vegetation and water, so that there can be a decrease in energy use and an increase in the thermal comfort, at the time that offers and supplies technical advise in other projects and activities developed by the Institute.

The Department is in charge of the execution and managing of the 25 Bioclimatic Houses project that make up the Bioclimatic Dwelling situated in the ITER’s terrain.
The management, carried out by the department, consists both in coordinating the architect drafters of the different projects, modifying projects in order to fulfil the necessary changes in the houses and take care of the executive phase of the building site. They also act as the technical office of the construction company.
In addition to the 25 Bioclimatic Housing, there is a Visitors Center, another bioclimatic building , part of the ITER´s facilities, and designed by the architect Cesar Ruiz - Larrea, winner of 25 Bioclimatic Houses for the island of Tenerife contest.
